Press Release

Aug 22 – Holland, MI – As people nationwide take their final summer vacations of 2022, Michigan-based Volta Power Systems wrapped up the season by hosting its first-ever Volta CAMPOUT August 4-7. Designed for RV technology and sustainability enthusiasts, the event attracted nearly 100 RV owners, nearly all of whom are utilizing Volta’s energy storage technology in their vehicles. Attendees joined training seminars, got a first glimpse into the latest Volta product offerings, and learned more about the latest in lithium-ion technology from Volta Co-founder and CTO Jack Johnson.

With Volta’s mobile energy storage technology, RVers can achieve true off-grid capability without sacrificing the comforts of the home. Volta systems provide enough power to run all RV amenities, including all-night air conditioning, with none of the noise or emissions of a generator. In total, nearly 5,000 Volta-equipped vehicles are on the road. Based on data from the Argonne National Library and conservative run-times, estimates show that approximately 23 million pounds of carbon emissions are mitigated annually from eliminating auxiliary generators on those vehicles. Throughout the weekend, Volta’s lithium-ion systems prevented up to 28,000 pounds of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.

“As industries worldwide look to reduce emissions, many are finding that the tech is already here to support their goals,” said Jack Johnson, co-founder and CTO of Volta Power Systems. “Volta is enabling totally new lifestyles for RVers with technology that’s economically attainable and environmentally responsible.”

In addition to other educational and entertaining activities, Volta hosted a live Q&A with Scott Watson of the YouTube channel Go Small, Live Large!. As a Volta ambassador, Watson travels across the country providing training on the Volta system to RV dealers and vehicle manufacturers. Kicking off the weekend was a #PoweredByVolta concert from musician Jason Walsmith, who performed songs such as “Camper Van” for the crowd. His 2022 Storyteller Overland MODE LT van served not only as the stage but also as the show’s sole power source.

“The pandemic showed the world how important art, music, and entertainment are to the human experience, and our Volta-powered van helped us thrive in a world when everything else abruptly came to a standstill,” said Jason Walsmith of The Racontourists. “Now, no matter where our fans are, we can bring the concert to them and not have to worry about a generator drowning out our sound. We are thankful for the freedom the Volta system has granted us with the ability to share our love of music and common interests with the CAMPOUT community.”
