Jack (JL) Johnson
Co-founder and GM
16 years experience with Johnson Control providing leadership in advance material science, new technology launches and structured turn arounds on an international level. In 2009 Johnson was asked to lead the launch of Johnson Control-Saft joint venture where he was responsible for $250M capital development for the first large format automotive focus lithium-ion plant. In 2014 Johnson decided to utilize the lessons learned in advance lithium-ion and start his own company focused on supporting smaller OEM’s in advance energy deployment.
Randy is a master electrician with over 40 years in the electrical field. He helped create Volta Power Systems in 2014 and is also an owner of Inline Electric and Controls in Holland. Along with his years of experience in the electrical field, Vanklompenberg has spent 12 years in the high end motor coach business working with brands like Prevost and Newell.
Co-founder and Director of Finance
Todd brings 31 years of experience in electrical engineering for large scale automation and additional experience with electrical design, programming, project management, assembly lines, work cells and more. Todd also serves as a partner and the president of Inline Electric and Controls.
Born and raised in Holland, Joe is a master electrician who has worked as an electrical controls electrician and an electrical contractor for 28 years. Although he currently resides in Grand Rapids, Joe helped start Inline Electric and Controls in 1990 with Randy Vanklompenberg.
Director of Quality
Mike brings 34 years of experience in Quality Management, including 17 years in quality leadership with Johnson Controls automotive, lithium-ion battery and HVAC divisions. Mike served in R&D, manufacturing, and corporate roles. He has extensive experience with quality systems and international quality standards. In 2018 Mike retired from automotive and joined Volta to help the company develop its quality systems.
Director of Engineering
Combined 24 years of Automotive, Battery, and Electronics experience with LG Chem, Visteon, and Chrysler Working with advanced technologies and applications. With 9 years at LG Chem Power, Kirk Chapman was the Engineering Manager that helped bring the Chevy Volt and Ford PHEVs to the automotive market. Working with Automotive OEMs form most of his career, including 10 Years at Tier 1 Visteon, Kirk brings a deep understanding of the engineering methods and best practices that are required to deliver top quality systems.
